Information and consultation workshop for identification of suitable project sites in development of a full project document improving the resilience of the agriculture sector in Lao P.D.R. to climate change impects was held by NAPA follow-up team (NAFRI and UNDP) under the support of UNDP/GEF fund on 28-29th April 2010 at provincial Agriculture and Forestry Office, Savanhnakhet province. It was a great honor for the team to have Mr. inpuhn Sountanusin the deputy of PAFO at Savanhnakhet province, and Mr. sysavang Vonghajak, the deputy of NAFRI, to chair the workshop with 50 participants from 5 provinces (Savanhnakhet, Champasak, Xekhong, Salavanh and Auttapue) attended. This was bring together relevant stakeholders from GOL, UN,NGO and participants with long term professional experiences (e.g PAFO,DAFO, DDMO etc ) and farmers to discuss and assist in identification of suitable project locations according to defined criteria. The website has been redesigned to take into account new changes going on at NAFRI as well improved services to users of the website.The redesign reflects a commitment to getting out more information in Lao Language as well as to provide opportunities for NAFRI centres and staff to contribute information and knowledge to the nafri website.

The Lao Agricultural Research Fund (LARF) aims to provide Lao scientists with an opportunity to compete for agricultural research funds.The LARF is open to government agencies, universities, agricultural colleges and NGO organisations based in the Lao PDR, which have a mandate to undertake agricultural research. Proposals must contain a defined research project, and can be of one or two years in duration. The annual funding limit for individual projects is US$6,000 and a maximum of US$10,000 for two year projects. The grant moneys are for expenditure only within the Lao PDR. More Info>>
