Different projects and programmes at NAFRI have developed there own websites and information systems. Please find a list of these below:

 

1. The Lao-Swedish Upland Agriculture and Forestry Research Programme (LSUAFRP)

The LSUAFRP was the first phase of Sida support to NAFRI (from 2002 – 2007). The objectives of LSUAFRP were to:

  • Develop productive upland technologies and land management recommendations that are acceptable to farmers and take poverty alleviation and gender equity into consideration.
  • Strengthen the capacity of NAFRI and its local partners to undertake research and provide effective research support activities.
  • Provide information, feedback and methodologies for natural resource planning/management and policy development.

The webpage includes information on the different aspects of the programme, all publications produced, information on field sites and maps and photos.

2. The National Rice Research Programme website

The National Rice Research Programme was established to improve rice production in Laos. The website is a rich source of information on rice knowledge in Laos. A range of research and extension related documents are available

3.  Open Resources on Conservation Agriculture for Development Project (ORCATAD)

The project aims  The action aims to enhance the export capabilities of Lao PDR in eco-friendly cash crops promoting best practices in conservation agriculture aided by modern Information and Communication Technologies furthering the integration of Lao PDR in to the global information society. The action aims also at reinforcing institutional capabilities of the intermediary business organisations such as LNCCI (Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry) by focussing on the niche market and new business opportunities for eco-friendly agriculture related products in the international market.

4. Improving  the Resilience of  the Agriculture Sector in Lao PDR to Climate Change (IRAS)

 The NAPA follow-up project realizes improved resilience of the agriculture sector to Climate Change impacts through four distinct outcomes, which in itself form a logical sequence of components, envisaging future replication
1. Knowledge Management
2. Capacity Building
3. Community-based agricultural adaptation practice
4. Adaptation learning
Each outcome has a significant stand-alone value, at the same time additional benefits accrue through close integration of the four components.

LARF - 8

The Lao Agricultural Research Fund (LARF) aims to provide Lao scientists with an opportunity to compete for agricultural research funds.The LARF is open to government agencies, universities, agricultural colleges and NGO organisations based in the Lao PDR, which have a mandate to undertake agricultural research. Proposals must contain a defined research project, and can be of one or two years in duration. The annual funding limit for individual projects is US$6,000 and a maximum of US$10,000 for two year projects. The grant moneys are for expenditure only within the Lao PDR. More Info>>
