NAFRI produces a range of information and materials on a regular basis. Two of these are the NAFRI Newsletter and the Lao Agriculture and Forestry Journal. The NAFRI newsletter comes out every month and is intended to update provincial and district staff on new events, technologies or recommendations from NAFRI. The journal provides a forum for researchers to share and publish their research

Over the last 8 months NAFRI has been working with a range of partners to improve farmers’ and extension agents access to information. This is most notably carried out through the NAFRI-NAFES Working Group on Agriculture Information Management. The working group and its activities has been approved by the Director General’s of both NAFRI and NAFES and support for activities is carried out through SDC and Sida.

NAFRI held the 2nd international conference on Sustainable Sloping Lands and Watershed Management was held from December 12-15, 2006 in Luang Prabang, Lao PDR. More than 250 participants attended from 18 countries in the region and the world. At the conference, 44 presentations were made as well as more than 30 posters presented on innovative research and development activities in the uplands.

Recognized as the region’s premier Natural Rubber event, ARC 2009 is a one-stop-centre for the natural rubber industry players to learn, experience and network.

The Objectives of ASEAN Rubber Conference:

• Brings together both regulatory authorities and commercial players of the rubber world to provide updates on current trends and future challenges faced by NR industry
• Facilitate the exchange of ideas and insight into the global rubber industry and the price discovery of rubber
