PROJECT OBJECTIVES
The TAP-AIS project is funded by the European Union’s DeSIRA initiative in nine countries, including the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, and aims to assess countries’ agricultural innovation systems (AIS) and provide needs-based capacity development based on the Common Framework developed by the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP; http://www.fao.org/in-action/tropical-agriculture-platform/en/). The project is implemented in close collaboration with national government partners and key AIS organizations. In the Lao People’s Democratic Republic, the project will focus on scaling out the achievements of the CDAIS project and on applying tools and methodologies of the Framework to assess the AIS, strengthen key research and extension organizations with the objective to address gaps and capacity needs as well as strengthening mechanisms for improving policies and strategic processes.

WORKSHOP OBJECTIVES
The overall objective of the workshop is to share with participants the main findings of the agricultural innovation system assessment conducted in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from January to June 2021.
In particular, outcomes include:
To develop an understanding of agriculture innovation system (AIS) in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic; To share the AIS assessment findings; and
To discuss how to promote and accelerate agriculture innovation system in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
